Top dairy farms competed for honors in the Brown Swiss Dairy Cattle show judged August 13 at the 2021 Iowa State Fair.Knapp Genetics of Epworth received Grand Champion Female honors, and Uluru Swiss Acres of Clermont showed the Reserve Grand Champion Female.Lee-Anns Swiss L.L.C. of De Witt claimed the Champion Premier Exhibitor and Champion Premier Breeder titles.
Iowa State Fair Local Award Winners Dairy Cattle: Jersey
Dairies competed for top honors in the Jersey Dairy Cattle show judged August 13 at the 2021 Iowa State Fair.The Grand Champion Female was shown by Rachel Hefel/Gene Henderson/Joe Gibbs, Epworth. Schulte Bros, Blairstown exhibited the Reserve Grand Champion Female. KCCI Genetics, Dyersville, received Honorable Mention.Schulte Bros. of Blairstown earned Champion Premier Exhibitor and Reserve Premier Breeder.

Top dairies competed for honors in the Holstein Dairy Cattle show judged August 12 at the 2021 Iowa State Fair.Farnear Holsteins, Farley, exhibited the Grand Champion Female and the Senior Champion Female.Rick Demmer, Peosta, was awarded Premier Breeder at the Iowa State Fair this year. Hawkeye-JK Holsteins, Ashton, was awarded Premier Exhibitor.The Premier Breeder Award is given to the competitor who earns the most points for animals bred and exhibited by the entrant or others during the day's show.
78th Selken Reunion
The 78th Selken Reunion was held on Saturday, August 14, 2021. It was held at the Pizza Ranch at VintonIowa Gerald Selken of Dysart Ia was the oldest present and Lucy Schulte Daughter of Mark and Laura Schulte of Delhi was the youngest. We all enjoyed no cooking or washing dishes instead we had time to visit.Those Present:Brian, Ashley, Brittany, BJ and Cassie Selken Raytown Mo.

Flecksing Graduates from Drake University
Joan Flecksing, of Walford, graduated with a M.P.A., Public Administration from Drake University at the end of the spring 2021 semester.Drake University is a midsize, private university in Des Moines, Iowa, enrolling nearly 3,000 undergraduate and more than 1,800 graduate students. Students choose from over 70 majors, minors, and concentrations and 20 graduate degrees offered through seven colleges and schools.
