Spring Registration Period for $1,000 Scholarship Now OpenProgram Also Provides Education on College Financing and PlanningWEST DES MOINES, IOWA (January 11, 2024) — Iowa high school and college students, as well as their parents or guardians, have a chance at one of 45 scholarship awards deposited into a College Savings Iowa account.Registration for the ISL Education Lending Scholarship is open now through March 29.

Five area students named to Wartburg Fall Term Dean’s List

Wartburg College has recognized 484 students who were named the 2023 Fall Term Dean’s List.The list honors students who earned a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above in at least four course credits during the term. Three of the four course credits have to be graded with a traditional letter grade. Wartburg students take four courses during Fall Term, which runs from September through December.

Students and their parents should fill it out as soon as possible to ensure the best consideration for available college funding, which may be limited.

Aubrey Gates of La Porte City, was named to the University of Sioux Falls Fall 2023 Dean’s List. Majoring in Exercise Science, Gates was among the 600 students named to the Fall 2023 Dean’s List. Students must be enrolled in at least 12 semester hours and earn a term GPA of 3.5 or greater on a 4.0 scale for qualification.

Phippen among Iowa Students to Receive $1,000 for College Via Scholarship

 Forty-five Iowa high school and college students will each be receiving $1,000 for college as part of the ISL Education Lending Scholarship.The winners were chosen from among more than 12,000 registrations from parents, high school students and college students during the fall registration period. While registering, the parents and students were able to view and interact with relevant financial literacy tips to learn more about paying for college.

The Iowa Pork Producers Association’s viral “Purchase Moore Hamann Bacon” marketing initiative with Iowa State football players was named the Best NIL Deal of 2023 by Street and Smith’s Sports Business Journal (SBJ), a prominent and widely respected national weekly trade magazine.Iowa Pork partnered with Iowa State Cyclones Myles Purchase, Tyler Moore, Tommy Hamann and Caleb Bacon to create the “Purchase Moore Hamann Bacon” promotion.

McPherson College, a four-year private college located in central Kansas, recognizes its highest academic achievers in its fall 2023 Honor Roll and Honorable Mention.From Vinton, Rebecca Steffen was named to the Honor Roll. Students must be enrolled full-time and earn a grade point average of 3.55 or higher during the last term to qualify for the honor roll.

Iowa community colleges report increases in fall enrollment

New data released by the Iowa Department of Education shows overall growth in fall enrollment trends at Iowa’s 15 community colleges this year.Preliminary data analysis for 2023 indicates total fall enrollment at Iowa community colleges increased by 3,111 students from last year. This represents a 3.8 percent climb in the total number of students enrolled this fall at 85,362 compared to 82,251 in 2022 and is the second consecutive year with a continuous increase in community college enrollment.
