What We're Reading...The Stranger in the House

Apparently, I've been missing out on the author John Marrs. "The Stranger in her House" had me staying up into the wee hours of the morning until I could figure out the varied levels of deception Marrs managed to infiltrate seamlessly in this book! One of my biggest fears on aging is the possibility of losing my memory and finding myself lost in a world alone and Marrs dove deep into this fear we all have of aging: vulnerability.

What we're reading... The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane

This weekend I read The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, by Kate DiCamillo. It is a story for children but appeals to a much wider audience. It tells the story of a porcelain rabbit, Edward, who cannot move or speak but can feel. He lives a sheltered life with a girl who cares deeply for him; dresses him, speaks for him, poses him. One day while aboard a boat with the girl and her family he is accidentally sent overboard.

Book Review: No one can know

No one can know by Kate Alice Marshall This is the second thriller by author Kate Alice Marshal, that I've spent lounging around on the weekend reading: she's a keeper in my book! Three sisters harbor a dark secret after their wealthy, abusive parents are murdered & the case goes unsolved for over a decade, altering the lives of all three sisters.

Book Review: The House at the end of Hope Street

The House at the end of Hope Street by Menna Van PraagI read this quirky book in a weekend. It was quick and easy, but with some dark undertones. The first page caught my attention with some very descriptive language about a mysterious, shadowy house that people can only see if they need the house. And Alba needs the house. The older lady who answers the door has some very strict rules, including the one that states that a visitor can only stay for ninety-nine nights.
