Taylor English, from Kempton, Illinois is serving on team Maple 8 in AmeriCorps NCCC Class 20. She arrived in Vinton on February 11 to start her 10-month service term. Maple 8 is made up of seven people from across the country who will serve together around the Midwest.
Taylor says “I have a passion for helping people and I want to make a difference. I also like to travel and I feel like this is a great way to meet new people.”
Before Taylor joined the NCCC program she was in college full time.
Maple 8’s fourth round project is at Camp Courageous, in Monticello, Iowa
Maple 8 will be working with Camp Courageous as camp counselors for adults with disabilities, Tasks include schedule planning for the group, leading activities, and assisting with primary care.

Q: What is your least favorite food? Sea food
Q: What did you want to be when you grew up? A teacher or a vet.
Q: If you could have a superpower what would it be? The ability to fly
Q: What is the most challenging and/or exciting thing you have done? Volunteering in an orphanage in Romania for a month.
Q: If you could come back as animal which one would it be? A turtle
Q: What is your favorite book? “Echos”
