On September 11th, five Vinton-Shellsburg FFA members attended the FFA District Dairy Judging CDE. The members that participated in this event were Brittani Kim, Emily Howe, Amanda Burkey, Lucas Kalina, and Logan Grabin. These individuals did amazing while at the judging contest. Logan, not being on the team because he is only a 9th grader, received the highest score out of the five members that went. The other four members all participated in a team and they got first place with a score of 513!
About a month later, on October 14th, members participated in District Horse Judging at Kirkwood Community College. 9 Vinton-Shellsburg FFA members attended this and they did really well too! Sadie Novotny, Meranda Sanders, and Amanda Burkey placed 9th as a team with Meranda placing 5th individually. Meredith Glynn placed 1st in performance and Sadie Novotny placed 4th in the question portion of the CDE.
All of the teams did amazing and had a great time doing the different CDE’s, and overall everything was great!
