Deanna Robey from Sacramento, California is serving as the Operations Support Team Leader in AmeriCorps NCCC Corps Class 21. She arrived in Vinton in January of 2015 to start her 11-month service term with the program assisting in the operations of and supply management for the North Central Region. Her role is to assist in all facets of campus operations including residence, resource, supply, and fleet management, and provide member support.

Before her term of service, she was a licensed driving instructor in Sacramento, California. She graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1986. Afterwards, she married and became a military mom, moving all over the U.S. with her family. Deanna brings various experience as a team leader including: working with youth, training volunteers and staff, restaurant management, volunteer management, computer sciences, and customer service. She is very organized, enjoys delegating, and is a huge fan of karaoke.

Deanna talks about her motivation for joining NCCC, “I joined NCCC because I needed a new adventure, and I wanted to do something with a purpose.”

After completing the program in November, she plans on joining NCCC for a second term of service or joining the Peace Corps in Ukraine.
