The Center Point 1903 school building is gone to make way for improvements at the now Middle School. But for many people the memories made in that old building will live on. To help with the remembering, the Center Point Historical Society has bricks from the old school for sale.

The salvaged bricks with an attached laminated plaque picturing and identifying the school and giving its dates sell for $20. They are available at Center Point Family Dentistry or by calling 319-849-1883.

The brick committee is Philip Andersen and Teresa Scheeler.

Another memory/fund raising project for the Historical Society is the upcoming Center Point Cemetery Walk, the fifth annual. It will be Sunday, August 30, at 4 p.m. at the Center Point Cemetery at the north end of Main St. Admission is $6 at the gate. In case of rain it will be at the Depot Museum, 703 E. Washington, with a power point presentation of the gravesites.

The Cemetery Walk committee is Teresa Scheeler, Sharon Hannen, Dennis Schlicht and Dusty Sylver.

Departed Center Point citizens will be acted by costumed portrayers including Historical Society members and family members of the deceased. Among favorite portrayers from past Walks will be DeEtta Andersen as Lucy Stick and Rev. John Caughron as Keith Kennedy.

Those with mobility problems should arrange for their own golf carts. Everyone is invited to bring lightweight lawnchairs and water.

The Historical Society meets Thursday Aug. 27 at 7 p.m. at the Depot Museum.

The last scheduled Sunday for the Depot Museum WWII/Forties exhibit is August 30 from 2-3:30.
