Maggie Holzworth of West Des Moines was crowned Senior Cowgirl Queen Friday at the 2016 Iowa State Fair. Alexus Coleman of Monroe earned the title of Junior Cowgirl Queen.

The Junior Cowgirl Queen Attendants include the four runners-up in the competition for young women ages 10 to 15. The attendants are Abby Mccormick of Indianola, McKenna Clark of Carlisle, Alexus Callyn Fox of Center Point and Sierra Chittenden of Norwalk.

The Senior Cowgirl Attendants are selected from competitors ages 16 to 26 and include Mallory Vroegh of Grimes, Brittany Abernathy of Indianola, Angela De La Riva of Ellsworth, and Sami Searle of Joice.

Both Cowgirl Queens received a $125 cash award, a belt buckle sponsored by Iowa Show Circuit and a monogrammed chair. Their attendants also received cash prizes and chairs.

Judges in the Cowgirl Queen contest considered appearance including beauty, attractiveness and appropriateness of western wear and horsemanship.
