Volunteers have been putting together shelving for the Friends organization’s own permanent book sale room in the expanded and remodeled Andersen Center Point Public Library. The space is in the old DVD/audio book room.
Working on August 23 were: Friends members Dorothea Wood, Vicki Thompson and Roberta Gilchrist and Library Board member Dennis Schlicht. And thanks to Greg Coberly for modifying the used shelving so it would work.
Friends has its annual organizational meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 7, at 6:30 p.m. at the Library. Officers will be elected for 2016-17 and membership dues of $5 paid. New members and guests are welcome.
Friends is a group of people who value what the Library gives to the community and who do events for fun and fund-raising to give back to the Library.
Its next fund-raiser is a Minion Party on Saturday September 24 at the Library community room from 1 to 3 p.m. Reservations are $7 for kids and $3 for adults who must accompany them. Sign up at the Library or send checks, phone number and names to Friends at Box 54, Center Point IA 52213. Deadline is Sept. 16. Call 319-438-6487 for more information.
