We just had to ask….Sara Stuefen, D.D.S.

The newest dentist in Vinton hates washing big pots and loves a triangle-shaped Swiss candy bar (we Googled it) and says her favorite fast food sandwich is one she used to make. She also lost her favorite chair in the Flood of 2008. Here, in her own words, are Sara’s answers to some of our questions.

Q. Is there anything that your husband asks you not to cook, ever again?

A. There’s a list.

Q. Your oddest cooking idiosyncrasy?

A. I hate washing large pots. I do everything I can to avoid using ours.

Q. Does it matter in your house which way the toilet paper roll goes?

A Yes, definitely. The end is pulled from the top of the roll.

Q. Tell us about your favorite chair?

A. We used to have a large chair that my in-laws gave us. I could lean on one arm of the chair and have my legs hanging over the other arm. It was so comfortable and I did a lot of studying, reading, and napping in that chair. We lost it in the flood and I don’t think the company makes that model anymore.

Q. Funniest memory as a parent:

A. We don’t have any kids yet.

Q. Best fast food sandwich ever?

A. Maidrites from my hometown diner.

Q. What was your first job?

A. I worked in a maidrite diner for several summers. I made and served the food.

Q. One place in the world you really, really wish you could visit?

A. New Zealand.

Q. First pet you remember?

A. I grew up with cats. My first was Sunshine.

Q. Who was your favorite teacher or coach, and why?

A. I have several. I am still in contact with my second grade teacher from Houston. I also had some great influences in high school: my biology teacher, math teacher, and dance team coach. They all pushed me to do more than I thought I could.

A. Toblerone

A. Gardening

A. I’m not picky. If it’s clean, has cup holders and heat, then I’m happy.

Q. What could people – or government – do to make your job easier?

A. A simpler tax system.
