Et cetera : What we're reading: Before and After

You know that a few weeks ago I read 'Before We Were Yours' by Lisa Wingate, and I learned that many of you had read it as well! I needed to know more about the victims and adoption scandals. As an adoptee myself, I could relate to the emotions and feelings of these older adoptees wanting to know their history, where they came from, and possible medical concerns that could be passed down to future generations.

'Before & After: The Incredible Real-Life Stories of Orphans Who Survived the Tennessee Children's Home Society' was written by Judy Christie and Lisa Wingate. Once people got ahold of 'Before We Were Yours' it became a bestselling novel and some of the remaining victims of Georgia Tann read it as well.

One survivor was brave enough to reach out to Lisa Wingate and request a gathering for the people that were adopted to share their own stories and to possibly connect to people and/or family members that they may or may not have known about. This book takes you on the journey of 15 adoptees' real-life stories and how these victims were able to come together for an emotional weekend.
