I might have a soft spot for damaged characters, it seems. I love character studies of women dealing with family trauma, crippling loneliness, and seemingly irredeemable character flaws.

'Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine' by Gail Honeyman captured adult depression due to childhood trauma caused by a psychotic mother to such a degree that I couldn't help but feel empathy for Eleanor. I couldn't help but adore her and want to see her grow and heal.

But what I enjoyed most was how Honeyman showcased how difficult it can be to make friends as an adult when you're dealing with trauma/mental health issues. I highly recommend this book (available at the library and on the Libby app) and with a Goodreads rating of 4.24, you can't go wrong. Happy reading, friends! ~Heather
