Iowa high school and college students, as well as their parents or guardians, have a chance at one of 45 awards deposited into an ISave 529 (formerly College Savings Iowa) account. The program is open to students in ninth through 12th grade and undergraduate college students who are Iowa residents.Registration for the ISL Education Lending Scholarship closes December 2. Registration is available at www.IowaStudentLoan.org/Savings and scholarship recipients will be determined by a random drawing in December."We are a nonprofit and this program is one way we give back to the Iowa community," said Steve McCullough, president and CEO, Iowa Student Loan Liquidity Corporation, which sponsors the scholarship and provides educational funding under the name ISL Education Lending. "Because it's open to high school students of all grade levels, not just seniors, and to college students as well as their parents, it allows us to provide awards to a wider population. In addition, the form of the award - deposits into a college savings account - means that winners can choose to spend it on college expenses when and how it best suits them."The ISL Education Lending Scholarship was initially launched in September 2023. More than 12,000 individuals registered for each of the two program periods in 2023-2024, and all 90 awards were claimed. The ISL Education Lending Scholarship not only provides registrants with a chance at much-needed funds for college, it also provides valuable information about ways to reduce college loan debt through the program. Financial literacy tips are included as part of the registration process, and additional information is available after participants register.Scholarship Details
