When they won the $100,000 from the U.S. Cellular Calling All Communities fund-raiser, the Central Lutheran School students had help from family and alumni from virtually every state in the nation. Now, the school and its leaders are putting that money to work in Newhall. They held a ground-breaking ceremony Wednesday morning for the new gym and kitchen project, which is estimated at around $700,000. Students joined School Board and Building Committee in dedicating themselves to the project, and the project to God. The student ground breakers (one chosen from each grade level) were: (from left in the photo) Robbie DeVenney Dawson Franck Olivia Janss Alyssa Kochuyt Macy Schanbacher Ashley Kochuyt Shelby Jo Karr Maggie Weirather Evan Moeller Westin Bierschenk Members of the School Board and Building committee who participated were: Suzie Kochuyt Jan Doellinger Principal Pastor Steve Rempfer Pastor Doug Woltemath Jess Cattau Alexa Erusha Stella Wolter Gene Prososki Doug Wendel Art Rinderknecht Randy Woodley Brian Wells Bret McKinney Drew Retz Scott Thompson Bill Hiner For more information about the recently-completed classroom project and the current gym-kitchen project, click HERE.
