Iowa State University Extension and Outreach and the Universityof Nebraskawill be teaming up to offer a Feedlot Roundtable session at Manchester, Nashua, and Garner on Feb. 14 from 12:45-4 pm.
The feedlot roundtable sessions are conducted annually in Nebraskafor feedlot operators and agribusiness interest. Through a cooperating agreement between ISU Extension and Universityof Nebraska Extensionto share livestock educational resources and programs and the benefit of technology the roundtables will be offered at three Iowalocations this year.
The Manchesterlocation will be held at the Delaware County Extension office 1417 N Franklin St.,
The Nashualocation will be at the Borlaug Learning Center Northeast Research Farm 3327 290th St.,
and the Garner location will the Hancock County Extension office, 327 West 8th St.
The afternoon program is focused on animal health and nutrition. Dr. Jan Shearer from Iowa State University Veterinary Diagnostics and Production Animal Medicine will discuss the impact of digital dermatitis or hairy heal wart and managing the hoof disease in the feedlot. Dr. Galen Erickson beef nutrition specialist at U of Neb. will be discussing research at the Universityof Nebraskaon using roughage in the feedlot diet and grain adaptation in feedlot cattle. Heather DePra with Universityof Nebraska Extensionwill be discussing the performance and economic impact of ionophores, implants, and beta agonists in feedlots. The day will wrap up with an overview of research being conducted.
A fee of $10 payable at the door will cover a proceedings, meeting costs and refreshments.
