The AmeriCorps NCCC team Maple One has begun their second round project by serving the YMCA of the Greater Twin Cities in Wisconsin. The team worked at Camp Icaghowan outside of Amery, Wisconsin for a couple of weeks before moving on to Camp St Croix in Hudson, Wisconsin on Thursday, May 24.
Maple One assisted in a variety of tasks during their time at Camp Icaghowan including the removal of an old foundation, construction of a leadership building in the woods and the painting of a new boathouse. Other tasks included the completion of bocce ball courts, painting flagpoles, painting buildings, and moving and splitting wood. The time spent at Camp Icaghowan was wonderful, from the hospitality of the YMCA staff to the beautiful and picturesque layout of the camp property.
After finishing up work at Camp Icaghowan on Thursday, May 24, Maple One traveled onto Camp St. Croix, located along the St Croix River, where they are helping to complete similar varied tasks as well as the possible construction of a gaga pit, a unique game that originates from Brazil.
