Dairies competed for top honors in the Jersey Dairy Cattle show judged Saturday at the 2012 Iowa State Fair.
David Koss of Epworth exhibited the Grand Champion Female. The Reserve Grand Champion female was shown by Steinridge Jerseys of Lawler.
Lyon Jerseys, LLC, of Toledo took first place in both the Premier Exhibitor and Premier Breeder contests. Holtz View Farms of Maquoketa was runner-up for Premier Exhibitor, while Ja Glo Jerseys of Central City took second in the Premier Breeder category.
The Premier Breeder Award is given to the competitor who earns the most points for animals bred and exhibited by the entrant or others during the day's show. The Premier Exhibitor Award is given to the exhibitor who accumulates the most points based upon the day's placings.
