Cassie is serving as the Team Leader for Pine 7 at the Vinton Campus. She chose to participate in AmeriCorps NCCC FEMA Corps because she is passionate about serving people in need and wants to apply what she learns this year to a career in teaching.

Cassie graduated from Holton-Arms School in 2008 and Colorado State University in May 2012 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education and Vocal Performance Certificate. After her term of service she plans to pursue an Elementary or Middle School teaching position in Music or Theater.

During high school, Cassie was a member of traveling Shakespeare theater troupe based in northern Virginia. The troupe rehearsed outside and performed in venues ranging from national parks to the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington DC. Cassie says that this experience of sleeping in tents and traveling by bus has well-prepared her for the NCCC lifestyle.

Q: Are there any saying your parents repeated over and over that you can still remembers clearly? Dad: “Face your fears, Cassie!” Mom: “Everything is happening exactly as it should.”

Q: What do you like to do in your free time? Sing and play guitar and ukulele
