By: Alease Rowan Maple Six is working in Valparaiso, Indiana for their third project of the year at Taltree Arboretum & Gardens. The team is responsible for helping construct the arboretum’s new Children’s Garden exhibit and with removing invasive plant species that have been dominating the prairie and woodland areas. The team is also in charge of facilitating a few summer camp sessions at the arboretum and they have also been learning as well as teaching subjects focusing on the environment and nature. In addition, members of Maple Six are digging trenches for the Children’s Garden path as well as working on the foundation to a shed that will be placed in the area. Their efforts are contributing to the quick completion of the exhibit so its scheduled soft opening will occur the first day of September. Aside from their regular work day schedule, Maple Six is also doing an Independent Service Project at the Indiana Dunes Park and Beach, assisting with some cleanup before the fall season begins.
