By: Amy Stahl On September 25, NCCC team, Maple 3, was sent down to help the people of Mississippi in response to Hurricane Issac. Maple 3, is working with IRD Gulf coast (International Relief and Development) to help the survivors return to their homes and get back to their daily routines. Switching off in teams of three and four the team performs assessments to see when homeowners can return to their homes. Part of team is responsible for calling home owners to set up visits while others travel to the respective homes. Many of the homes have severe water damage which causes mold. The people of Mississippi have welcomed Maple 3 with open arms and stories. Many of those stories are sad and heartfelt and have made a huge impact on the team. The team is departing from the Gulf Coast and Mississippi on October 18.
