by: Rachel Lebeaux Name: Kaitlin Faticoni Hometown: Burlington, Connecticut Kaitlin is currently serving as a member of Cedar 1 with the AmeriCorps NCCC at the Vinton Campus. Kaitlin is excited to have a chance to give back to her community and country through a variety of different service projects. Kaitlin graduated from Miss Porter’s School in 2007 and Simmons College in May 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and International Relations with a minor in Political Science. She believes that her experience as a Residence Advisor and Spanish tutor has given her the opportunity to hone her leadership, conflict management and team building skills which are essential to her success as a Corps Member. Prior to NCCC, Kaitlin was working as a head lifeguard and swim instructor at The Camp Chase YMCA and as a senior lifeguard and swim instructor at The Farmington Valley YMCA. She is hoping to find a job and continue participate in community service after her year of service. Kaitlin and Cedar 1 are currently serving in Noblesville, Ind. with the Hamilton County Parks and Recreation Department. The team is removing invasive species and trail building. Prior to this project, Cedar 1 was in Dubuque, Iowa assisting the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium with facilities upgrades, husbandry, moving collections and working at the different educational stations. The team has also worked in Omaha, Neb with Habitat for Humanity building houses and with Camp Echoing Hills in Warsaw, Ohio assisting in maintaining camp facilities.
