By: Rachel Lebeaux Name: Travantey Nunn Hometown: Birmingham, Alabama Travantey is serving his term with AmeriCorps NCCC at the Vinton Campus as a member of Maple 3. He seeks to be a part of the changes that so many Americans are already a part of. Travantey graduated from Jess Lanier High School in May 2009. After graduating high school Travantey went to the Great Onyx Job Corps where he became a certified Brick Mason. During his time in Job Corps, Travantey took on a variety of leadership roles including: Student Association President, Sergeant at Arms, Bay Coordinator and Brick Masonry Shop Foreman. After Travantey’s term of service, he would like to maintain a secure job and continue to be a positive role model for his friends and family. Travantey and his team are currently serving in Mississippi with the International Relief and Development Gulf Coast. They are performing home assessments on homes that were destroyed by Hurricane Issac. Prior to this project, Maple 3 was serving in Cedar Rapids, Iowa with the Indian Creek Nature Center where they were removing invasive species. The team has also served in Fargo, N.D. assisting River Keepers with clearing brush in the Red River and in Milwaukee, Wis. assisting Habitat for Humanity with constructing new homes and leading volunteers during their blitz build. The team started their term of serving working in Pierre, S.D. doing flood relief with Lutheran Social Services of S.D. Some fun facts about Travantey: Q: What is your favorite movie?
