Name: Christina Willis
Hometown: Hatteras, N.C.
Christina is serving as a member of the NCCC FEMA Corps team Pine 4 at the Vinton Campus. She chose to participate in NCCC FEMA Corps because her two passions in life are working with people and working with disasters. She felt that this term of service would be the perfect opportunity to gain the experience she needs for a future career doing disaster relief work.
Christina graduated from Cape Hatteras Secondary School in 2007 and Virginia Commonwealth University in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in homeland security and emergency preparedness. After her service term ends she plans to continue working in emergency management with the government or private sector.
Coming from Hatteras, North Carolina Christina has experienced natural disasters firsthand. Her encounter with Hurricane Isabel made her realize that she wanted to work in emergency management. She hopes to discover whether to pursue a career in disaster preparedness or relief and recovery during her time with NCCC FEMA Corps.
