Pumpkin Drop: VPRD event allows area residents fun way to dispose of Halloween Jack-O-Lanterns.
Area residents disposed of their Halloween Jack-O-Lanterns in the most fun way possible on Sunday, dropping them from the top of the water slide at the pool in an effort to hit a target on the sidewalk below. The annual Vinton Parks and Recreation Department event included certificates for Personal Pan Pizzas from Pizza Hut for those who hit the target.
Some of the pumpkins dropped were barely bigger than softballs, while others were much larger, including the Jack-O-Lantern that began as a 90-pound pumpkin.
