Et cetera : AmeriCorps NCCC FEMA Corps Class 19 Member Spotlight: Brie Scolaro

Name: Brie Scolaro

Hometown: Howell, NJ

Brie is serving as a member of the NCCC FEMA Corps team Pine 6 at the Vinton Campus. She chose to participate in NCCC FEMA Corps because she recently graduated from college and was looking for an opportunity to help as many people as possible within the United States.

Brie graduated from Howell High School in 2008 and the University of Delaware in May 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. After her service term ends she plans to enroll in a second term. Ultimately she hopes that her time with NCCC FEMA Corps will help her decide on whether to pursue a master’s program in psychology or disaster management.

Brie has had a variety of interesting experiences in her life. She studied abroad in Egypt during the 2011 riots in Cairo and got to witness the Arab Spring firsthand. She was also part of one of the first volunteer groups to assist in Joplin, Mo. after the May 2011 tornado destroyed the town.
