Name: Chris Finlay

Hometown: Boston, Mass.

Chris is serving as a member of the NCCC FEMA Corps team Pine 6 at the Vinton Campus. He chose to participate in AmeriCorps NCCC FEMA Corps because living simply and altruistically for ten months seemed like the best transition into 'adulthood' that he could have. He hopes to strengthen his character and broaden his experience through service.

Chris graduated from Matignon High School in 2007 and completed four years at the University of Massachusetts Boston where he studied political science and international relations. After his service term ends he plans to return to school to finish his final semester.

During the summer of 2010, Chris completed a month-long backpacking course in the Cascade Mountain Range in Washington State with the National Outdoor Leadership School. He says that the rewards of doing that program were some of the greatest he has experienced to date and he is excited to see what NCCC FEMA Corps will bring.
