Et cetera : AmeriCorps NCCC FEMA Corps Class 19 Member Spotlight: Max Rusek

Name: Max Rusek

Hometown: Plover, Wis.

Max is serving as a member of the NCCC FEMA Corps team Spruce 5 at the Vinton Campus. He chose to participate in AmeriCorps NCCC FEMA Corps because he enjoys giving back, and wants to better himself as a person and learn about the problems facing people living in the Midwest.

Max graduated from Stevens Point Area Senior High in 2007 and the University of Wisconsin Madison in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and biochemistry. After his service term ends he hopes to apply to medical school.

When Max was sixteen he and his family traveled to and climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro to celebrate his father’s 50th birthday. While this experience was a great one, he says that many of his memories revolve around not feeling well due to the altitude.
