The Vinton Garden Club member of the National Garden Clubs, Inc., Central Region, Federated Garden Clubs of Iowa, Inc. and District II met at the Bricklynn Cafe and Blacksmith Boutique in Dysart for lunch and for the program on “Garden Art”.
After the lunch President Fran Stueck called the meeting to order. Members recited the Pledge of Allegiance and Conservation Pledge. Nine members attended and answered roll call with plans for Christmas. Each member brought hats, mittens, & sweat pants for the grade schools.
Secretary Joyce Bratten read the minutes from the November meeting.
As treasurer Connie McClintock was absent, Fran gave the treasurer’s report.
Garden Therapy at the Windsor Manor went well. Residents enjoyed making the tree ornaments for the nature tree on Dec. 6, 2012. Six members who helped the residents was Ruby Clemens, Fran Stueck, Rita Glime, Anne Dake, Connie McClintock and Susie Hansen
After the tree decorating the club members judged the Smokey Bear & Woodsy Owl posters. Fran will go to the elementary schools to resent the awards for 1st, 2nd & 3rd places in grades 1-5.
Next meeting will be Jan. 30 at the home of Joyce Bratten.
Fran brought a small gift for each member.
Fran adjourned the meeting.
