Name: Patrick Houston
Hometown: Philadelphia, Pa.
Patrick is serving as a member of the NCCC FEMA Corps team Hickory 4 at the Vinton Campus. He first learned about AmeriCorps NCCC from his sister who served at the Denver Campus in 2008. He chose to participate in the NCCC FEMA Corps program because of his longstanding interest in disaster response and recovery work.
Patrick graduated from Faith Tabernacle School in 2011 and was working for a furniture company and volunteering on a political campaign prior to joining NCCC FEMA Corps. After his service term ends he hopes to attend the Community College of Philadelphia obtain an associate’s degree. Then he plans to attend Temple University and earn a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture or business administration.
Patrick is a big fan of the outdoors and has volunteered in the past to restore the environment. He is looking forward to continuing to positively impact himself and others through his service in the NCCC FEMA Corps program.
