Benin Laliberte, one of the first FEMA Corps class members at the Vinton campus, is from Norway. But he is not from Norway the country, or even Norway the city southeast of Vinton in Benton County. He's from Norway, Maine.

Below is Ben's NCCC profile:

Name: Benin Laliberte

Hometown: Norway, Maine

Benin is serving as a member of the NCCC FEMA Corps team Pine 1 at the Vinton Campus. He chose to participate in AmeriCorps NCCC FEMA Corps after he graduated from high school because he wanted to take a break from the classroom before attending college. He says, “I wanted to do something productive and worthwhile and this seemed like a great opportunity to do so.”

Benin graduated from Oxford Hills High School this past June. After his service term ends he plans to go to college but isn’t sure which one he wants to attend just yet. He intends to pursue a music major in college.

Music is one of Benin’s passions. He plays ten instruments and has performed in several bands. He also enjoys travel and has taken trips to Ireland, China, Canada and various states across the U.S. In high school he played soccer and lacrosse and did track and alpine skiing.
