Maple 7 is currently serving in Iowa City and Coralville with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and the Johnson County Fairgrounds for their third project round.

To start out their first week, members assisted the Johnson County Fairgrounds in preparing the grounds for their annual county fair that runs from July 22 to 27. They set up 300 seats for the music stage, placed rope around specialized parking lots, put up fair directory signs, cleaned up barns, placed recycle and garbage bins around the grounds, and set up tables for booths.

For the second week, they have been working hard at Coralville Lake, scrapping layers of paint off the dam gate control machines. USACE has been helpful with providing supplies, tools, and new paint to improve the aesthetics for those machines.

The team will finish up the Coralville Lake Project and disassemble the Fairgrounds next week. The main tasks for disassembling are removing manure and hay from the barns, putting away the seats, and moving back the bins into storage, as well as removing the parking lot ropes.

Maple 7 is camping for this week at Coralville Lake, and so far the team has been enjoying it. They only had one exception of bad weather, in which they had to stay in back-up housing for one night. Everyone is looking forward to getting things done this round!
