The Vinton Garden Club member of National Garden Clubs, Inc., Central Region and District II held their monthly meeting December 2, 2013 at Vinton Family Restaurant for lunch with Susie Hansen as hostess. After the meeting members went to Lutheran Home for the meeting and therapy with the residents.

President Fran Stueck called the business meeting to order at 1:05 p.m. Members recited the Pledge of Allegiance and conservation pledge. Nine members answered roll call “Your favorite candy or cookie you make at Christmas”.

Secretary minutes were approved . Bills were paid and members paid dues. Treasurers report was approved and filed for audit

Committee reports: Fran brought a get well card for Pam Claassen of Van Horne Floralia club, she fell and broke her hip. Members wrote a short note in the card.

In therapy members helped residents make designs using greens and mini red carnations.

In publicity the club news has been put in the local paper.

Unfinished business Members brought hats, mittens and sweat pants for Tilford Elementary children. Fran delivered them after the meeting.

There was discussion on more programs members would like to hear in 2014.

The Smokey Bear posters weren't done. Fran will pick them up from Tilford office when they are ready and call members to judge them so they can be sent on to the State Chairman.

New Business Cindy Pattee reported on articles in State NEWS on invasive plants of Iowa Oriental Bittersweet Vines.

The program committee will get together to plan next years meetings.

Fran thanked everyone for all the help they did throughout the year with flower show, therapy, planters around town, giving programs etc. Working together makes projects lighter.

Fran Stueck is chairman of the Central Region Meeting Oct. 3-5. 2015 being held at The Kirkwood Hotel in Cedar Rapids. It is Iowa's turn to hostess the event. She will need lots of volunteers to make it a success. Fran encouraged everyone to put money in a jar every month now until the meeting to pay for registration and hotel expenses.

The annual plant sale has been moved to a week later Friday, May 16.

The next meeting will be January 29th with Connie McClintock as hostess.

Fran thanked Susie for being hostess.
