Marshall Mullenix, a former Vinton-Shellsburg student-athlete, has earned two academic honors at Iowa Wesleyan College.
Mullenix was among the IWC athletes who earned all Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) All-Academic recognition. He also made the Fall Semester Dean's List at IWC.
Mullenix graduated from Vinton-Shellsburg High School in 2013. He played football all four years, was a member of the golf team for one year, and was a member of both the soccer and swim teams for two years. Mullenix was a two-year letter winner in football, being named the Scout Team Player of the Year twice as well. He also earned the “Mr. Hustle” and the “Toughest Player” awards for his work on the gridiron.
Mullenix was also team captain of both the soccer and swim teams, earning his varsity letter twice in those sports. He received the “Most Coachable” and MVP awards on the swim team and was Senior of the Year and All-WaMac Honorable Mention in soccer.
Mullenix was also named to the Dean’s List having shown high scholastic attainment during the fall and spring term. In order to be included, a student must be classified as a degree candidate and have attained a grade point average for that term of 3.50 or better on a load of 12 credit hours or more, with no incomplete grades recorded at the time the list is declared.Mullenix was born on March 20, 1995. He is the son of Brad and Angie Mullenix. He has one brother, Bray, grandparents are Tom & Fran Radcliffe and great grandmother is Geri Davis, all of Vinton. He is currently undecided on his major at IWC.
