After returning from winter break Spruce 4 along with fellow FEMA Corps team Pine 1 returned to Springfield to resume their service work at the Disaster Field Office as a result of severe storms, straight line winds and flooding in Missouri.

Before winter break Spruce 4 was stationed in Springfield working in the area of public assistance where they assisted with damage assessment and creation of project worksheets (PWs). Spruce 4, which had divided its ten members into groups of two, traveled to many affected townships to survey the damage wrought by the storms and floods in order to create PWs. The major facilities that were affected were the gravel roads used for transportation of goods, services and civilians in the outlying townships of Missouri.

These PWs created by the team were used as a form of grant, which was submitted to the federal offices in order to allocate funds to those affected by federally declared disasters. Spruce 4 worked diligently to visit and survey as many damaged areas as they could before returning to the Disaster Field Office to get down to writing their project worksheets.

As a team goal, Spruce 4 aims to not only create, but complete 31 PWs before the end of their current project in Springfield which ends mid-March.
