On Monday, May 5th, games of Pepper Cards were played. Hazel Eastwood took 1st place with 273 points. Bill Milne took 2nd place with 256 points. Leroy Wiese won 3rd place with 244 points. After the card games, refreshments were provided by the Card Club. HACAP furnished the beverages.

On Tuesday, May 6th, the afternoon activity was Surprise Bingo. MaureenHaisman was the volunteer caller. Hazel Eastwood handpicked the games. Game one was a 9-Pack with Viola Cotret winning a wash cloth. Game two was Wild Number Three Bingos with Marion Isbell winning a meal ticket. Game three was Frame the Free Spot and Four Corners with JoAnn Roster winning a notepad. Game four was the Letter “M” with Ruth Wieditz winning $1. JackOliphant won body powder on game five with Blackout.

On Wednesday, May 7th, the afternoon activity was 10-Cent Bingo. LindaLough was the volunteer caller. Game one was the Letter “M” with Norma Ellis winning. Game two was Four Postage Stamps with Greta Geiken winning. Game three was a Bingo in I and G with Marion Isbell and Norma Ellis as the winners. Game four was the letter “X” with Norma Ellis winning. On Thursday, May 8th, the afternoon activity was 10-Cent Bingo. Vickie Holstwas the volunteer caller. Ruth Wieditz handpicked the games. Game one was All Around the Free Space and Four Corners with Lorraine Fix and DelaneKalina winning. Game two was Wild Number Three Bingos with Jack Oliphantand Greta Geiken winning. Game three was a 12-Pack with Jack Oliphantwinning. Game four was a Goal Post with Delane Kalina as the winner. ElsieKnaack and Orville Ellingson won game five with a Blackout.

On Friday, May 9th, the afternoon activity was a 500 Card Party. Bill Milne won1st place with 3,320 points. Wilma Loutsch won 2nd place with 3,300 points. Don Selken took 3rd place with 2,880 points. After the games, refreshments were served by the card club. HACAP provided the beverages.

On Tuesday, May 13th, we celebrated all the May birthdays. Those celebrating were Clair Hepker, Esther Rinderknecht, Bill Sellers, Walter Geller, GeorgeEckhart, Lyle Geal, Marion Moser, Virginia Snydock, and LaVonne Palmer.

On Wednesday, May 14th, the afternoon activity was 10-Cent Bingo. Wendy Pennington was the volunteer caller. Mae Wilhelmi handpicked the games. Game one was Frame the Card with Mae Wilhelmi winning. Game two was a 9-Pack with Oma Geiger and Lorraine Fox as the winners. Game three was Wild Number Three Bingos with Mae Wilhelmi and Hazel Eastwood winning. Serving Buffet from 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM, Monday through Friday. A choice of salads are available Monday – Friday on site.

Everyone is WELCOME! Suggested contribution for individuals 60 years old or older, and their spouse (regardless of age) is $3.25 for the meal. Individuals who are not yet 60 are WELCOME but need to pay $4.25 for their meal. If you are just coming for the activity, the suggested contribution is $1.00. Carryout meals are available. We deliver meals to Vinton, Newhall, Urbana, and Garrison/Mt Auburn. The suggested contribution is $3.50/meal if you are 60 or older. For those under age 60, the suggested contribution is $4.25 for home delivered meals. We also have nutritious frozen meals and liquid supplements. Delivery is throughout Benton County. Please call by 10:00 AM daily to cancel a Home Delivered Meal. For more information about services, please call 319-472-4761, or to reserve a table for groups of three or more. Please help us recruit more people to join the 4th St Diner Meal program. All contributions are used toward the continued operations of the meal site.

Each month the 4th St Diner has a special day set aside to celebrate birthdays for that month. It is always scheduled for the second Tuesday of each month. Anyone having a birthday for that particular month is encouraged to make a reservation for themselves and any guests they would like to celebrate with. The names of all birthday celebrants who have made a reservation for the Birthday Table are entered into the door prize drawing. We currently have two door prizes scheduled for each month. The first is $5 in Vinton Unlimited Value Dollars generously donated by Vinton Unlimited. The second is a gift certificate for a free 4th Street Diner meal. Reservations for the Birthday Dinner table can be made by calling 472-4761. Reservations need to be made by 10:00 AM on the day of the celebration.
