I am a volunteer at The VA Hospital in Iowa City.
We hand out lap robes (quilts, afghans, fleece blankets) for veterans who are admitted to the VA Hospital for their treatments daily (Monday-Friday).
If anyone likes to sew quilts, crochet afghans, sew fleece blankets and would want to make some for our Veterans at The VA Hospital in Iowa City please fill free to do so.
Size should be a least 4x5 feet, made of any warm, washable material.
They are put together like a small quilt (with warm inner liner) but tied like a comforter. One side may be pieced; using any size squares you may have them varied in color, or they can be made of a single piece on each side.
Edges should be securely bound. Knitted or crocheted lap robes in the same size are also in demand. No fringes, no signing on blankets please.
If you don't sew, crochet, knit and want to furnish yarn or material to make them we will find people to make them for you for our Veterans!!!
The VA in Iowa City goes through 10 to 20 daily (Monday-Friday)
For more information, call me at 319-929-8531 or email me at hankdale488@yahoo.com.
We go there weekly so we would be glad to deliver them for you and make arrangements to get them from you.
