Et cetera : V-S FFA receives Superior Chapter Award at District Convention

On March 14th, 2015, fourteen Vinton-Shellsburg FFA Chapter members attended District Convention at the Benton Community High School.

While at Districts, the chapter was recognized with a Superior National Chapter Award along with 3 Academic Achievement Awards for senior members that have over a 3.5 GPA and have been a FFA member for at least three years. The Vinton-Shellsburg FFA members who received this reward were Sadie Novotny, Riley Ries and Melody Sedlacek.

Members competed in 7 different areas at the District level and did incredibly well in all areas. The events that members participated in include:

Experience the Action- Quinton Guenther, Katie Isbell, Grace Milroy, Emily Reisch, Sydney Walker, and Keri Webster; Silver.

Farm Business Management- John Eden, Stevie Henry, Riley Ries and Drew Wiley; Silver.

Chapter Website- Sydney Robertson; Gold.

Chapter Program- Jessica Alderson, Dylan Geater, and Sarah Siglin; Silver.

Reporter’s Scrapbook- Jessica Alderson and Katie Isbell; Gold- Advancing to State.

Secretary’s Scrapbook- Emily Reisch; Gold.

Treasurer’s Scrapbook- Sydney Walker; Gold- Alternate to State

All of the members did amazing at District Convention and enjoyed the day in general. The members got to watch other chapters compete in events and had the opportunity to see the new Northeast District Officer election and instillation take place.

It may have been a long day for the members but the experience was worth it. The members worked their hardest on the events that they took part in and in the end it showed!
