Et cetera : Kupka wins State Fair chicken wings competition

Carrie Kupka of Walford won first place and a $75 cash award in the Goldie's Chicken Lickin' Wings competition, judged Saturday at the 2015 Iowa State Fair.

Susan Hanke of Clive earned second place and $50.

Contestants were challenged to create award worthy chicken wings.

Entries were judged on creativity, flavor and appearance.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There are 228 divisions, 850 classes and over 10,600 entries at this year's Fair. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Wells Blue Bunny.
