Today we had a surprise visit from our neighbors, the Geigers...the ones who lost their home in a fire earlier this month.
For the most part they are doing as well as you possibly can after a loss like this. Their kind daughter has opened their home for them, and it looks like they are all managing as best as they can.
They were very appreciative of the donations that have been sent in for them! They have already started replacing all the paperwork that they lost and have found out that it's pretty expensive just to buy copies of those documents, their advice, "Get a lock box." Those handy little fire safes that you probably have tucked under your bed....great for an itsy bitsy fire, but not one that destroys your home...
Both Lester and Donna look great, and while still mourning the loss, they are both recovered physically from the smoke, and are in good spirits.
It was great to see their faces again and know that they are okay.
I still feel like the folks of their generation, the ones that served in and survived WWII, are made of much sterner stuff than the Americans born after the war.
Just wanted to give you all an update and thank you for your kind generosity to them. If anyone deserves your kindness, this couple does, and you are continuing to give it to them...Thank you!
If you haven't and would still like to send them a donation, send it to us here:
