The Boundary Waters Canoe Wilderness Area, Glacier National Park, Rocky Mountain National Park, Smoky Mountains National Park, Philmont Scout Ranch. These, and more, are all High Adventure destinations that the Vinton Scout Troop #47 have been to over the last 10 years. In fact, they attend one such destination every year. This is in addition to all of the local adventures and learning that they are involved in.

Why get involved in scouting? According to local assistant troop leader Jay Lash, it's for the same reason people become involved in any group; fun and fellowship. Scouting teaches life-long lessons in a setting unlike school. This usually involves lots of outside time to run around, have fun, and provide hours of volunteer service to the community. They would welcome new members!

The Lions Club has sponsored Troop 47, which is part of the 7-county Hawkeye Area Council, since it was organized 86 years ago. We are very proud of our local scouts and look forward to continuing our sponsorship well into the future.
