I learned something very interesting with the reading of this book: not only should you not judge a book by its cover, you should also not judge a book by its title!

From the time this book arrived in our collection, I was disinterested, thinking that it was a dull journal-type work "based on a true story." Turns out, it was told from the viewpoint of a 105 yr.-old man, who was the young boy that drove the giraffes to the San Diego Zoo, eighty seven years before. Needless to say, I was hooked from the first page, and couldn't put it down until I finished it!

Based on true events, this book includes actual newspaper headlines and articles, as well as telegrams that flew back and forth from those carrying the giraffes to the San Diego Zoo. Thank goodness for good friends, who recommend good books! Try this one!
