'Louder Than Hunger,' written by John Schu, is a moving novel in verse about a middle school boy named Jake. Jake shares an honest and raw outlook on his struggles with anxiety and anorexia.
The only person that Jake shares a connection with is his grandma, and looks forward to their special Saturdays of music, books and theater. Jake is sent to Whispering Pines for therapy after his mother takes him to the doctor.
John Schu takes us along Jake's time spent at Whispering Pines and we learn about his struggles, pain, and healing. Check this book out and you will be rooting for Jake.
