4th STREET DINER NEWS

On Monday, March 5th, the afternoon activity was a Pepper Card. There were 4 tables of players. Clete Friedman won 1st place with 304 points. Don Selken won 2nd place with 299 points. Annie Hopkins won 3rd place with 275 points. After cards, refreshments were served by the card club and HACAP provided the beverages.

On Tuesday, March 6th, the afternoon activity was Surprise Bingo. Maureen Haisman was the volunteer caller and Ruth Wieditz handpicked the games. Game one was a Flag with Ruth Wieditz winning a planner, stamps, and hand sanitizer. Game two was Postage Stamps with Faye Goodell winning a necklace, planner and hand sanitizer. Game three was All Around the Free Space with Jeanette Blazicek winning a free meal, planner and hand sanitizer. Game four was a a 12-Pack with June Salerno winning a planner, puzzle, and hand sanitizer. JoAnn Roster won game five with blackout and took home a planner, earrings, and hand sanitizer as prizes.

On Wednesday, March 7th, the activity was 10-Cent Bingo. Wendy Pennington was the volunteer caller and June Salerno handpicked the games. Game one was Three Bingos On One Card with Jeanette Blazicek and Faye Goodell as the winners. Game two was All Around the Free Spot with Marge Goodell as the winner. Game three was a Postage Stamp with George Eckhart as the winner. Game four was the Letter “X” with Evelyn Greenwood winning. Faye Goodell won game five with Blackout.

On Thursday, March 8th, the afternoon activity was 10-Cent Bingo. Vickie Holst was the volunteer caller. The games were handpicked by Marion Isabell. Game one was a Layer Cake with Orville Ellingson winning. Game two was a 9-Pack with Greta Geiken winning. Game three was Wild Number Three Bingos with Jeanette Blazicek winning. Game four was Stair Steps with Jeanette Blazicek winning. Phyllis Ebert won game five with Blackout.

On Friday, March 9th, the afternoon activity was a 500 Card Party. There were 6 tables of players. Don Selken won 1st place with 3,190 points. Marge Foster won 2nd place with 2,960 points. Merle Roths won 3rd place with 2,900 points. After the games, refreshments were provided by the Card Club and beverages were provided by HACAP.

On Monday, March 12th, the afternoon activity was a Pepper Card Party. There were 4 tables of Pepper played. Esther Novotny won 1st place with 286 points. Geri Shaffer won 2nd place with 283 points. Patti McKenna won 3rd place with 277 points. Refreshments were provided by the Card Club and beverages were provided by HACAP.

On Tuesday, March 13th, we welcomed the ODO Club, Big Grove Homemakers, and the Urbana Card Club as guests. All of the March birthdays were celebrated. Those who were honored were Donna Hepker, Milt Smith, Leona Melhus, Arleen Schneiber, Juanita Krivanek, Chuck Krivanek, Pauline Schminke, and Melba Bearbouser. Pauline won $5 in Vinton Value Dollars and Melba won a free meal. Ten other guests were brought by the birthday honorees. The afternoon musical entertainment was provided by Stuart Gulick.

On Wednesday, March 14th, the afternoon activity was 10-Cent Bingo. The volunteer caller was Wendy Pennington. Norma Ellis handpicked the games. Game one was a 9-Pack with Marion Isbell winning. Game two was an Outside Picture Frame with Marge Goodell as the winner. Game three was the Letter “X” with Dale Anderson winning. Game four was a Three Layer Cake with Faye Goodell winning. Marion Isbell won game five with Blackout.

On Thursday, March 15th, the afternoon activity was 10-Cent Bingo. Vickie Holst was the volunteer caller and the games were handpicked by Delane Kalina. Game one was a Flag with Ruth Wieditz as the winner. Game two was a 9-Pack with Delane Kalina as the winner. Game three was Stair Steps with Geri Shaffer as the winner. Game four was a Layer Cake with Faye Goodell as the winner. Faye Goodell won game five with Blackout.

Serving Buffet from 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM, Monday through Friday. A choice of salads is available on the buffet.

Everyone is WELCOME! Suggested contribution for individuals 60 years old or older, and their spouse (regardless of age) is $2.75 for the meal. Individuals who are not yet 60 are WELCOME but need to pay $3.75 for their meal. Carryout meals are available. We deliver meals to Vinton, Newhall, Urbana, and Garrison/Mt Auburn. The suggested contribution is $3.00/meal if you are 60 or older. We also have nutritious frozen meals and liquid supplements. Delivery is throughout Benton County. Please call 319-472-4761 for more information about services or to reserve a table for groups of 3c or more.

Each month thce 4th St Diner has a special day set aside to celebrate birthdays for that month. It is always scheduled for the second Tuesday of each month. Anyone having a birthday for that particular month is encouraged to make a reservation for themselves and any guests they would like to celebrate with. The names of all birthday celebrants who have made a reservation for the Birthday Table are entered into the door prize drawing. We currently have two door prizes scheduled for each month. The first is $5 in Vinton Unlimited Value Dollars generously donated by Vinton Unlimited. The second is a gift certificate for a free 4th Street Diner meal. Reservations for the Birthday Dinner table can be made by calling 472-4761. Reservations need to be made by 10:00 AM on the day of the celebration.
