The Sartori Memorial Hospital Auxiliary is pleased to announce the recipients of their 2012-13 scholarship program. Recognition was given at the Auxiliary’s 73rd Annual May Breakfast on May 8, 2012, and the $1750 scholarships will be paid directly to the institution where the students will be enrolled full-time this fall.

Tess Noeller of Vinton has been awarded the Sartori Auxiliary Scholarship for the 2012-2013 academic year. Tess is a soon-to-be graduate of Vinton-ShellsburgHigh Schoolwhere she has excelled in the classroom and in her community. She has served as a volunteer in her community for various organizations including her church, the Special Olympics, a local center for high risk children, and at the community theatre. These philanthropic endeavors are a mere supplement to Tess’ already full schedule of activities which have consisted of cross country, soccer, cheerleading, band, choirs, drama and speech. Tess will be attending the Universityof Iowathis fall, where she has been accepted to pursue an undergraduate degree in biology or chemistry. Tess plans to follow her undergraduate experience by attending medical school in her pursuit of becoming a medical doctor.

All winners of the Auxiliary Scholarship were required to go through an application process to be awarded the scholarship based on academics, financial need and citizenship. Requirements included: having a G.P.A. of 3.0 or better; live in Black Hawk or contiguous county (including Bremer, Benton, Buchanan, Butler, Grundy and Tama); be a graduating high school student planning on pursuing a career in a health-related program or be currently enrolled in a post high school health related program of study.

The Covenant Medial Center Auxiliary and Sartori Memorial Hospital Auxiliary are two of the largest and most active service organizations in the CedarValley. In addition to fundraising, both organizations serve to promote the cooperative interest between Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare and the community.
