Yes, indeed, you can use a microwave oven to make corn shucking easier.

The three tried -- and succeeded -- several times on Thursday during the weekly Vinton Farmers Market at the Vinton Depot.

It's simple: Place an entire ear of corn in the microwave -- Bob set the timer for 4 minutes. Cut of the thick end of the ear and squeeze or shake until the corn slides out (be careful; it may be too hot to touch).
