The FEMACorps Spotlight today feaures Rebecca Atkinson of Colorado.

Name: Rebecca Atkinson

Hometown: Colorado Springs, Colorado

Rebecca is serving as the Spruce 2 NCCC FEMA Corps Team Leader at the Vinton Campus. She chose to participate in AmeriCorps NCCC FEMA Corps because she enjoyed her previous experience as a NCCC Corps Member at the Sacramento campus and wanted to continue to help others, travel, and build her resume.

Rebecca graduated from Cheyenne Mountain High School in 2007 and Cornell College in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in music and environmental science. After her service term ends she plans to attend graduate school for horn performance or environmental studies.

During her first term of service with NCCC, Rebecca received her Red Card certification in Wildland Firefighting. She is also a certified Wilderness First Responder. Additionally she enjoys travel and has the opportunity to visit Egypt, Mexico, Japan, Ireland, Scotland, Great Britain, and France.
