NCCC team, Oak Six, has been splitting their time between two project sponsors for their last project round with NCCC. The first sponsor is the Milwaukee County Parks and Rec in Milwaukee, Wis. and the second is The Nature Conservancy in East Troy, Wis. With Milwaukee County Parks and Rec, Oak Six is primarily trail building. For three weeks the team has successfully cleared, lopped and tilled a mile and a quarter of trail in the outskirts of Milwaukee. They have also been removing the invasive species, Buckthorn within the parks. Oak Six is working with The Nature Conservancy for four weeks, assisting with brush clearing, sign posting, invasive species removal, installing fire breaks and other various environmental tasks. The team has also participated in fire safety training with the local fire department. While in Milwaukee, Oak Six was able to participate in a river clean up with Milwaukee RiverKeepers. The team has also planned a community day in Eagle, Wis., on Oct. 27, trail building between the local elementary school and library.
