Name: Maya Jordan

Hometown: Stockbridge, Ga.

Maya is serving as a member of the NCCC FEMA Corps team Hickory 7 at the Vinton Campus. She chose to participate in AmeriCorps NCCC FEMA Corps because she wanted to give back to her country. She believes that what you put out in the world, you receive in return.

Maya graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations. After her service term ends she hopes to attend graduate school at either Columbia University or New York University for a master’s degree in public policy or journalism.

After her college graduation in May 2011, Maya traveled across Europe for 11 days visiting France, the United Kingdom, and Italy. She said that it was a fun, invigorating, and life-changing experience to be able to explore and adapt to new cultures.
