The new Benton County Fair Queen will be crowned next Thursday, July 14, during the traditional Thursday night activities at the Grandstand. Below, in alphabetical order, are profiles of the eight 2016 Benton County Fair Queen candidates: Macy Arbuckle Macy Arbuckle is the daughter of Jim and Carol Arbuckle of Vinton.

Heckroth and Hinders among Wartburg College students receiving diplomas

Wartburg College awarded diplomas to 331 students during Spring Commencement Sunday, May 22. Andrew Heckroth of Dysart graduated with a degree in History.

Loras College Announces Spring 2016 Dean's List

 Loras College has announced the names of students who achieved Dean's List status for the 2016 spring semester. A student must earn a 3.5 grade point average and carry a minimum of 12 credit hours to be recognized.

Lions Club installs new officers, presents awards

The Vinton Lions Club formally installed its new officers, including President Rob Levis, during its weekly meeting Wednesdayat Pizza Ranch. The Club presented awards to new members, as well as members who passed Quarter Century and Half Century milestones.
