IA Commission on Volunteer Service gives grant to Americorp

The Iowa Commission on Volunteer Service (ICVS) today approved $179,000 in state-funded RSVP grants and up to $5.75 million in federal AmeriCorps grants and Education Awards that together will leverage and support approximately 44,000 community volunteers and nearly 650 AmeriCorps State members who will provide direct support to thousands of local nonprofits, schools and communities throughout Iowa.

Jack is missing! He is a brown tabby cat, blind, and has had surgery on his left ear several times so it looks "messed up". Last seen in the West 9th Street area in Vinton around 9pm on 6/18/2012.

Sadie disappeared from her home between Vinton and Garrison 6-16-12.  She is a Border Collie mix and is very friendly.  She is wearing a light purple collar with her rabies tag on it.

Alliant Energy to initiate Appliance Cycling in parts of Iowa Monday

  Participating customers north of I-80 included in event   Interstate Power and Light Co. (IPL), an Alliant Energy company, announced today it will cycle air conditioners for participating Iowa customers in the central region of the state, approximately south of Highway 20 and north of Interstate 80.

'Showtime:' Cooling Dancers present annual recital

   The Cooling Dancers of Vinton presented their annual recital June 2 and 3 at the VSHS Auditorium.  Four performances were given featuring 300 students and nearly 80 dancing dads.
