Firearms Class set

  A law which went into effect on January 1, 2011 requires the Sheriff of each county to issue a permit to carry weapons to any person 21 years of age or older who is not addicted to alcohol, not likely to use a weapon unlawfully or in such a manner as would endanger the person’s self or others, is not a felon, and has not been convicted of a serious or aggravated misdemeanor in the past three years.

Teens Experience “Called to Glory”

  The Heart of Mary Cluster (made up of St. Mary’s, Urbana. Sacred Heart, Walker, St. Mary’s, Vinton parishes) sent a group of teens to attend the National Catholic Youth Conference (NCYC)  in Indianapolis November 17-20th.

Megan Jorgensen joins Wartburg Knightliters Jazz Band

Megan Jorgensen is a member of the Wartburg Knightliters Jazz Band.  Students must audition for this band and Megan was selected on trumpet.  She was a featured soloist at their concert on November 20, 2011.

Sophomore Aspen Auld places at national Alpaca & Llama Show of Champions

     Aspen Rayne Ranch of Van Horne, Iowa, owned and operated by Benton Community High School sophomore and FFA member Aspen Auld, has just returned from a very successful showing at the 2011 Alpaca & Llama Show Association’s (ALSA) “Grand National Show of Champions.
